Into the next game they faced a slightly bigger opponent and played very well but let their guard down for a few moments and Port Orange was able to capitalize, the boys unfortunately lost. With the brackets being how they were the last game turned out to be a consolation game but the boys treated it as if it were a championship. They fought hard to beat FC America 2-1 and went home with grins on their faces.
In addition to the Technical Director session and the Head Coach session, we have added a two hour individual development session. Within this timeframe we are to focus on two key aspects of soccer.
The first is the soccer power session, focusing on all aspects of physical development. These sessions will include work on; Acceleration, Agility, Balance, Flexibility, Pace, Power, Stamina and Strength. This aspect of the session is to not only excel the body to be able to maximize every individuals ability to be fast and strong, but to also aid on injury prevention which is key for every growing body. This training is with Almon Gunther, the SUPERFREAK himself. He is one of the best physical trainers in the business, dealing with many of the international and professional Womens team soccer players. We are very lucky to have someone so vested into the program with such a wealth of knowledge to benefit our players.
The second is the position specific training. We have one hour dedicated to giving the players that 1 on 1 training atmosphere in the aspect they want to work on. Four seperate stations for Goalkeeping, Defending, Midfield and Attacking are available and open for the players to grow in the position they want to progress in. Why spend the money for an individual 1 on 1 session when the top coaches at the club are willing to give this training as what is right for youth development. We all want our players to progress as individuals and at Westside, we believe that it is up to your organization to provide that for you, not for you to have an added expense to do whats right for your child’s growth in soccer. We have this great 8 week program in place by our Coerver Select Program Manager, Adam Frazer and our Coerver Technical Director, Milan Pualic whereas to give each player in every position on the field the tactical knowledge and technical ability to be the best player they can be. With Adam working with the Midfielders and Milan working with the strikers, we also have Jay Golumb, NSCAA staff member and evaluator working specifically with the goalkeepers and Chris Castell, our very own Coerver Director of Coaching working with the defenders, all players will be working with the very best of coaches.
This Wednesday night of training is a part of the Select program and every player is expected to attend in the same manner as their regular practices. With all the Select program in attendance for the two hour session, the organization is showing that we are not just 19 seperate teams: we are one club.
