U-17 Girls 2013 Big Sun Showcase Tournament Champions

Congratulations to the U17 Girls-White squad who are the 2013 Big Sun Showcase Tournament Champions!  Coached by BJ Fletcher and Clive Jordan, the girls traveled to Ocala on Mother’s Day weekend, May 11-12, 2013.  Their Saturday morning match was against a South Orlando team that saw the girls crisply execute a sound strategy, winning 9-0, and they continued that march in their second match against a Callahan team, winning 7-1.  The Championship match on Sunday however, was far more challenging and “perhaps the most intense and thrilling Finals match” most soccer spectators had ever seen.  The girls were tied 2-2 at full-time with an impressive, unrelenting host Ocala team.  A draw after two 5-minute overtime halves necessitated the championship match to be decided by penalty kicks.  Nail-biting shot after nail-biting shot, the early morning became a high-noon standoff.  As the girls found the back of the net several times and along with the saves from Eagles’ keeper Marissa Weidner’s elastic arms and cat-like reflexes, the girls went through two full rounds of PKs plus one before finally claiming the tournament championship!  It was a great weekend and both coaches would like to give a special thanks to the parents for all their support.

This program is specifically designed for student athletes of all ages.  This is an intense program that is designed to advance each players level of play both on and off the field. This program features (speed, agility, mental toughness, hand eye coordination drills, and character development).

In 2002, WSC brought soccer to the City of Jacksonville’s Westside.  As a result a new soccer complex was established at Ringhaver Park, located on 118th Street about 3 miles north of NAS Jacksonville. It has now become one of the Elite Soccer Clubs in Jacksonville, with over 1.700 youth players in the Westside Alliance.
  • In 2009, we formed a partnership with the Oakleaf Futbol Club.
  • We became the first official affiliated Coerver Coaching Soccer Club in Northeast Florida, the Worlds #1 soccer skills teaching program
  • Our programs emphasize enjoyment, skill development and a player centric focus in a supportive, positive and rewarding environment. We strive to teach values that our players will keep for years to come: teamwork, fun, commitment, and sportsmanship. We offer three distinct programs for our youth ages 5 -18:
    • Select Premier Program with 18 teams in the U11-U18 age groups, participating in the FSL and NFY leagues.
    • Academy Program which received FYSA accreditation in 2009 for ages U8-U12
    • Recreation Program for U5-U19 players
    • Eaglets Program for 3 year olds
