Robert
Anderson started playing competitive club soccer when he was
8 years old. He played for a number of select boys travel
teams in and around Edinburgh, Scotland. After a highly successful
youth career Rob was scouted by a top local club and went
on to play semi-professional for three years before becoming
a full time soccer coach.
His first experience with coaching Youth Soccer was with Roseburn
Colts an Edinburgh boys club After a celebrated championship
season Rob moved on to work with the SFA (Scottish Football
Association) where he learned many different aspects of professional
youth soccer coaching at all ages between 4-19. Rob was involved
with a variety of different coaching roles including participation
sessions, youth development
work, community outreach projects and also coaching people
with disabilities.
Rob moved to the United States in 1999 were he worked in Minnesota
for a Regional boys club called "Ramsey Area Soccer"
He coached many age groups including a U12 boys team that
became State champions in their first year with Rob!
After a triumphant first experience in America Rob was lured
back to Scotland to work as a professional soccer coach with
the SFA professional Premier League team "Hibernian F.C"
for two years as the local community school coach. He worked
along side some of the top coaches and players in Scotland
and traveled extensively with the club in Europe. During this
time
Rob returned to the U.S. to work full time with "Proexcel
Soccer" and was promoted to Technical Director of Soccer
with a club called Woodbury Soccer for a year. After another
productive year in Minnesota Rob was selected to be Elgin
College head coach in Chicago Illinois.
In a history-making season Rob and his new team went on to
win the conference championship and earned ECC's first Woman's
Soccer Region IV title. Rob became the Woman's Conference
"Coach of the Year" and Woman's Regional "Coach
of the Year for 2004".
Mr. Anderson is currently the "Britannia Soccer USA"
Director of Soccer for Westside Soccer Club in Jacksonville,
Florida.
