Hope begins.
The last three soccer seasons here at Westside Soccer has ended with an act of profound kindness. WSC players, in conjunction with Bishop Snyder HS, have literally donated the shirts off their backs – along with their cleats, socks and shin guards.
The first load of uniforms and equipment were donated to the San Gabriel Shelter in San Jose, Costa Rica. The shelter is the only pediatric hospice facility in the country, offering families respite care and the much needed services of doctors, dieticians, and physical therapists. The uniforms will find new homes with the families who use the shelter and neighboring schools.
WSC’s spirit of giving continues as similar loads of uniforms and equipment were sent to other clubs and shelters in Central and South America. In places where basic necessities are considered luxuries, the uniforms were loved and appreciated.
To date nearly 400 pounds of uniforms and equipment have been donated. If you haven’t given please look for notification of a collection following the Fall ‘09 season and let hope begin.
